Spinning From the Fold
Spinning from the fold is a great technique for spinning slippery silk, and slippery man-made fibers like tencel, soysilk or bamboo. But that's not all spinning from the fold is good for! You can use this technique to get a loftier yarn from combed top by mimicking a less aligned preparation like a carded preparation. By pulling the fibers out sideways from the combed top, they are able to incorporate more air into the finished yarn giving you a lightweight, lofty, warm result. Watch Beth as she shows you how spinning from the fold is done.
